When the tipper body is down the Inclinometer will NOT alarm in any state, even if the maximum horizontal angle is exceeded. This allows the driver to move the vehicle around a tipping sight using the inclinometer as a guide to find level ground. If, however, the driver tries to raise the body with the
maximum horizontal angle exceeded, the system will instantly alarm when it sees the tipper body lift more than 20mm off the chassis.
If the body is raised to an angle of approximately 20° from level the body angle sensor (B) will activate. If the system sees the magnetic contact (C) closed it will go into alarm. The warning on the control unit display reads:- REAR DOOR CLOSED, SLOWLY LOWER BODY. Note; The external sounder will not be activated in this mode as it is not an immediate danger to bystanders, there is only a voice message within the cab which reads “WARNING! TAILGATE CLOSED”

As with the alarm for the horizontal angle, the alarm will not reset until the tipper body has been completely lowered back to the trailer chassis (forward proximity sensor). In alarm mode the control unit can not be switched off as the power switch is overridden. This forces the driver to act on the warning and lower the body.

Once the rear door is completely open the vehicle can resume tipping as normal, with the Inclinometer monitoring the horizontal angle of the vehicle.

This system has the added advantage of preventing the vehicle from tipping if it is already on a steep incline, as this would only add to the problem of the weight shifting to the rear of the vehicle which could affect it’s stability.
The TSI 2 also features a CCTV system which can use up to two cameras. One fitted to the rear of the vehicle to improve revering safety and one mounted at the front of the tipper body to monitor loading and tipping. The camera system will automatically engage the rear view camera when reverse gear is engaged.

A body Up/Down warning indicator is fitted to the offside indicator arm on the tipping trailer. It is mounted so as to be in the line off sight when looking in the rear view mirror. The body up warning indicator will flash if the body is raised off the trailer chassis. This indicates to the driver that his tipper body is not completely lowered. This feature is a current legal requirement on all tipper vehicles. The body Up warning indicator uses red and white ultra bright LED’s which flash in an intermittent flash pattern and are highly directional so that it can not be mistaken for any other indicator or running light.

*As of 1st January 2008 Transport Support will be offering various TS Inclinometer systems with or without the tipper cut-off valve. We have made this option available for customer who want to use the TS Inclinometer purely as a tipping aid. Please feel free to contact us to discuss which option may be best for you.
"I think it's amazing and that all tippers should have them fitted. When I reverse onto a site the TS Inclinometer instantly tells me if it is safe to tip."
